RESIDENCY DETAILS

Themes/Disciplines/Experience
Thaillywood welcomes artists from all disciplines of contemporary art.  We primarily look for post-graduate, emerging and established artists with a level of national and/or international exposure.  However, we also take into considerations an applicant’s artistic potential, proposal originality, commitment to social responsibility, and the capacity to learn and adapt in a collaborative working environment.

Duration
2 months or 1 year depending on project proposal.

Community outreach
Working with children in local schools is integral to our residency program.  All artists in residence will work closely with the CRE8 Foundation to conduct art workshops in a local school 1-2 times per week.  Prior experience working with kids is helpful, but not required.

Language requirements
Working English.  Software is available to teach Thai basics if necessary. Translators available for community outreach programs.

Fee
There is no fee. Accommodation is provided free of charge. Funding will be provided to artists based on detailed proposals for projects to be conducted at Thaillywood.  Artists will be expected to cover their own expenses for food, entertainment, travel, and basic transportation.

Exhibitions
Thaillywood exhibitions are open to the general public during the months of June and January of each year. For each exhibition period, members of the international art-buying community and prominent members of the Bangkok art community are often in regular attendance.  We are committed to the cultivation of our artists’ careers and do all we can to help promote our artists’ exhibitions to the international and local art communities.
